Existential intelligence
Existential intelligence is the intelligence needed to deal with the following equation: "me and the others".
In Humans realm, the existential evolution of an individual is conditioned by the quality of balance between two sides of Being.
On the one hand, an individual is a depository of a unique combination of heritages (genetic, social, ancestral, cultural)
and must look after this 'uniqueness'. On the other hand, an individual is an intricate part of a social fabric and must
develop a bonding with others. Striking a balance between singularity and 'otherness' is our daily chore. We must learn to
understand ourselves with respect to these two indissociable aspects of our being.
The existential task becomes even more critical when one has to perform in a productive team. This is why it is essential
that a manager understands this social process. Further down, we will learn to differentiate relationships based on social
bondings from relationships based on organizational bondings. They are based on two different sets of systemic rules, and a manager
must be able to differentiate one from the other. Short of understanding this distinction, the manager will experience great difficulties
with two important managerial tasks: organization of a team and conflict resolution.
We will see how Existential intelligence rests on five complementary systemic processes which all contribute to an individual growth.
